Lagunitas Beer Now Contain Marijuana
Lagunitas – the sixth-largest brewery in the US is now producing beer with marijuana, but do not rush to collect a suitcase and go to the California coast. The company plans to brew beer with cannabis extract, which has nothing to do with the active ingredient, which can get you high.
“What we’re trying to focus on really has nothing to do with the drug component,” explains the brewer Jeremy Marshall. “Instead what we’re interested in is a molecule known as a terpene.” (source Food And Wine) Terpene interacts with hops, thereby giving different aromatic notes to the drink. It is important that this molecule is not part of the marijuana that will get a person high.
To make SuperCritical happen (which is how they decided to call the new beer), Lagunitas began working with California based company that produce cannabis cartridges for vape pens.
The brewery produced 60 barrels of this beer and is selling it on draft in California.
Earlier this year, the American brewing company Lagunitas, which was sold to the Heiniken concern for an undisclosed sum, headquartered in Amsterdam. Coincidence? I do not think so!
